Size: 21 items

An estimated 1.3 million men from India served in the First World War (1914 to 1918) and approximately 43,000 soldiers were killed and 65,000 were wounded. The Indian Army found itself in many theaters of conflict, some of which include the now-infamous Battle of Gallipoli, the Palestine & Mesopotamian Campaigns and the Siege of Kut. Also serving in World War I, were the Imperial Service troops provided by the semi-autonomous Princely States. Around 21,000 such men were raised in Word War I, mainly consisting of Sikhs from Punjab and Rajputs from Rajputana.
