The author of Infantry in India, Lieutenant General V.R. Raghavan, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM (Retd.) was commissioned into the Punjab Regiment and later on in his military career, became the Punjab Regiment's Honorary Colonel. His last military appointment was the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) from 1992 to 1994. He has been retired since and currently holds the post of Director of the Delhi Policy Group (DPG), a strategic think-tank.
The author of Indian Defence Yearbook - 2000, Lieutenant General R.K. Jasbir Singh, PVSM (Retd.) was commissioned in the 4th Gorkha Rifles and later on in his distinguished military career, transferred to the Jat Regiment. He was the Colonel of the Jat Regiment for ten years. He has served with the Neutral Nations Repatriation Commission in Korea and the United Nations in Congo. He has been in action in all the wars fought since Independence. In 1971, he commanded the 191 Infantry Brigade, which bore the brunt of the Pakistani offensive in the Western Sector. At the peak of the insurgency, he served in the Naga Hills. Later, he commanded the 15 Corps in Jammu & Kashmir. He retired as the Military Secretary, Army Headquarters in 1983. Fond of outdoor activities, he is a voracious reader and writes for professional journals. His first book, Handbook of Military Science and Armament Technology, was published in 1983 and is read widely. Thrice conferred with the Army Chief's Commendation Card, he was awarded the PVSM for distinguished service as GOC 15 Corps in J&K. He has been elected as a member of the Council of the United Service Institution of India, for the third time.
