Flying the Sukhoi-7 in Operation Cactus-Lily

26-SquadronAir Marshal Narayanan Menon was a Flight Lieutenant with No.26 Squadron at Adampur flying the massive Sukhoi-7 Ground attack aircraft during the 71 war. The Squadron was involved in a sector with the most enemy opposition on the western front. He recollects details of unit's contributions and his own personal experiences of the war.

K-13 Live Firing - First time in India (with a Canberra's Help)

After the disappointing performance of the missile in the 65 War, No.28 Squadron tested the K-13 missile in live firing exercises.  A Canberra flown by Squadron Leader S A Patwardhan  was the key in these tests.

Air Marshal Raghavendran's book took shape from the series of articles he had contributed to our site. The book was published earlier this year by Knowledge World India.  The Book launch included a Panel Discussion in which the Air Marshal shared some of his experiences in the IAF in Video. Air Marshal Johnny Greene (1929-2013)

A legendary pilot and officer,  Air Marshal Johnny William Greene passed away on 16 October 2013. Born 21 March 1929, Greene was commissioned in the IAF on 16 June 1951 (4093 F(P)) . He served as a Hunter pilot before moving on the Folland Gnat and making a name for himself in the 1965 and 1971 wars.
