History Projects

Bharat Rakshak is interested in compiling a personal history of the veterans that have served with the IAF in the course of its rich history. Operational and wartime histories are valuable and interesting in their own right but the details and insights available in personal testimonials are an equally valuable resource. We are looking for ex-service personnel and veterans who will be willing to share their experiences and service particulars that would help us create an archive of material on the History of the Indian Air force.
Following the completion of the 1965 Air War History Project, and its publication in the form of a published book,
Nearly 2000 Officers and 15000 airmen from India took part in the Second World War as part of the Royal Indian Air Force. Very little is known about their exploits. If you know someone who had taken part in WW2, and who is ready to talk about their experiences - write in to us. You can also send us photos or logbook scans to help reconstruct veteran or aircraft histories. Click on the link to find out more.
This is a Book Project - being undertaken by Anandeep S Pannu, the final product will be a book that will chronicle and detail the History of the English Electric Canberra in the Indian Air Force Service. If you have had anything to do with the Canberra in the IAF's service, whether as Flight Crew or ground crew, whether in war or in peace, then please consider contributing to this project.
