Antonov 12 at Leh Airfield

AN-12s from No.44 Mighty Jets Squadron at Leh AFS. The Squadron was raised on eight aircraft on 01 March 1961 as part of an expansion in the IAF's airlift capabilities. A further eight of the type were ordered for the No.44 Squadron in early 1962. This aircraft's 'BL 700-series' serial no. indicates that it belongs to the second batch purchased.
