Hawker Hunter F56, F56a, T66

Acknowledged worldwide as a gentleman's aircraft, this Hawker product equipped six squadrons in the IAF plus a training unit. It would serve for four and a half decades.

The first unit to fly the Hunter was No.7 Squadron, followed by Nos 14, 20, 27, 17, 37. Additionally the Operational Conversion Unit was raised to provide conversion training on the aircraft.

The OCU was to make a name itself in the Longewala battle where it operated under the name of 122 Ad-Hoc Squadron.
