Indian Air Force Commanders’ Conference began today at Air Headquarters Vayu Bhawan, New Delhi. The weeklong Commanders’ Conference commenced with the inaugural address of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal SP Tyagi.
Addressing the IAF Commanders’, the Chief of Air Staff said “The Indian Air Force is on the threshold of inducting the AWACs, additional mid-air refuellers and the Hawk AJTs. Induction of these new technologies calls for more efforts on our part. Integrating them in our present system with dexterity is the challenge ahead of us – more so when we enhance the integration to include modern technological acquisitions like Aerostat Radars, UAVs, AWACs, Data Links, Satellite Links and a robust Communication network which will help in reducing the sensor to shooter loop (time interval)”.
The Commanders’ Conference of IAF is held biannually and is attended by the top brass of the Air Force. During these Commanders Conference the operational challenges before the IAF are discussed. Apart from this, Flight safety, maintenance, administrative and logistical challenges before the IAF are discussed in detail.
During the present Commanders’ Conference, the AOC-in-Cs of all the IAF Commands would carry out a data based review. The Director General (Inspection & Safety) would also be presenting a Data based review on Flight Safety. Discussions on creation of sub cadre for weapon system operators and operational crew in various unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) squadron would also be discussed.
