History was created on 31st May 2008 when an An-32 of No.48 Squadron landed at the Daulet Beg Oldi Landing Ground. Gp Capt Anant Bewoor writes about this path breaking flight in his article.

The GOC-in-C Northern Command had accepted an invitation of AOC-in-C Western Air Command for a ride back from DBO. Both of them are seen in the aircraft during the return flight.

The flying crew, ground crew, with AOC-in-C and AOC and their Commanding Officer at Thoise. Both aircraft landed at Thoise, refuelled, and then headed back to Chandigarh. The crew of No.48 Squadron included lady officers as well!
