On a scale hitherto unseen over the city skyline, over 50 aircraft of the IAF showcased its mighty prowess, thunderous roars and sublime grace as the 'Air Warriors' set about to display their professional panache and zeal. The static display and air display was held at and over the Ahmedabad airfield from November 10-12. The air display comprised the Mig-21 Bisons, Mig-23 MFs, Mig-27sand its upgraded version, Mig-29s, Jaguar-Deep Penetration Strike Aircraft (DPSA) and the latest Multi-Role Combat Aircraft (MRCA), the formidable Sukhoi-30 MKI's in their fighter roles. Also participating in the air display were the Chetak, Mi-8 and Mi-17 twin-engine helicopters and the Avro Transport aircraft. This was a part of platinum jubilee year of IAF, which starts on October 8, Air Force Day. The IAF recruitment rally was conducted from November 13-15 at J.D. Nagarwala Police Stadium, Ahmedabad.

It was also aimed at motivating the prospective youth of Gujarat to join the Indian Air Force (IAF). A nine-aircraft Surya Kiran Airobatics Team (SKAT) performed aerial ballads while the Advanced Light Helicopters complemented the Sarang aerial display. In addition, petal drop, trooping of colours, special heli-borne operations (SHBO), formation fly-past, low-level aerobatics, mock aerial combat and skydiving by Akash Ganga were done. The static-display held at the Ahmedabad airport enabled an up-close appreciation of various aircraft, weapon systems and included publicity and information stalls on career opportunities in IAF. The AWSO team performed at the Sardar Patel stadium on November 13 for the general public. The air awareness campaign was open to all citizens, according to Defence PRO T K Singha.
