Indian Air Force Losses - 1990s
The heavy involvement in the operations in the Siachen Glacier area required lot of logistical air support. To this effect, quite a good number of Army Aviation Units and Air Force Helicopter units were involved in operations lasting over a decade and a half. There were non-combat related losses, and atleast two helicopters are known to have been lost due to enemy fire.
The Pakistani misadventure in Kargil saw to it that the Indian Air Force fired its guns in anger for the first time in the 1990s. Three aircraft were lost to various reasons, including one Helicopter bought down by shoulder fired Stinger SAM.
