
A series of 'Portrait' photos from Fg Offr OD
Agnihotris albums of the time gives us a candid picture of the men who were involved in
the operations from that time.
Not all of these are from No.2 Squadron, as you
would see, some of them are from other squadrons and units, but all have the one thing in
common - They show us the faces of the young men, barely into their 20s, proud to have
been commissioned, or having won their 'wings', fighting a war against the Japanese, not
knowing when their turn would come, day after day, without relief for so many years.

| IND/1991 Plt Offr OD Agnihotri seen here in this
hand colored portrait photo from August 1943, just after being commissioned. He is
seen again on the right in a 1946 photo, proudly sporting the 1939-45 Star and Burma Star
Ribbons. |

1943 with No.6 Squadron. |

| IND/1572 Sqn Ldr Jehangir 'Jungoo' Merwan Engineer, the
second eldest of the Engineer brothers. |
IND/2437 Fg Offr Bhondada Bhaskara Koteshwara Rao DFC,
the only pilot from No.2 Sqn given the DFC. Koteshwara Rao was later killed in an
automobile accident on 23 Sept 1945. |
IND/2433 Fg Offr Mervyn Ignatius D'Rosario was a course mate
of Koteshwara Rao, both getting comissioned in June 43. |
IND/2888 Plt Offr Shamin Ul Zafar Khan, photo
marked as 'deceased 1946'. He was killed in a Hurricane crash during
unauthorised low flying near Jullundhar on 16 Mar 1946 |
