The RAF commissioned Kohat for operational purposes
in 1922 to meet the threat posed by tribesmen of the northern and western areas of the
Frontier Province. Kohat was one of the three stations in the region, the other two being
Peshawar and Risalpur.
In 1943 a decision was taken to 'Indianise' the the
station and Wg Cdr Mukerjee was posted as the first Indian CO of the station in 1943. He
was suceeded by Mehar Singh, A M Engineer and Arjan Singh.
After completion of its tour, No.2 Squadron flew
back to Kohat for rest. OD Agnihotri was also part of the squadron to come back to Kohat.
It appears that sometime after his return, he was directly on the Station staff, working
along with Wg Cdr Aspy Engineer, the then CO.

aircraft is MT841. This Spitfire was with No.2 Sqn from 20 Jan 46, and
was written off on 29th Jan 1947, when P/O Pat Callaghan belly landed the aircraft in
Kohat airfield. The aircraft engine had caught fire after an oil leak in circuit.
