One of the 2 Alouette IIIs "Chetak" from the HTS, Hakimpet sent for Cyclone Relief Ops mainly in central Sri Lanka and around Baticoloa. Aircraft were based at Katunayake from 25 Nov to 11 Dec 78. The Dett was headed by Sqn Ldr Kalyanraman. Photo shows Air Cmde Naidu at extreme L.

The Last Flight - Accident on 2nd Dec 1954

The last flight of A S Giri is noted in the logbook. Note that the entry for 2nd December is partially done. An officer, most likely one who was in charge of returning the effects, completed the entry in red ink - marking "AC Crashed". The Logbook was returned to the family.

Air Chief Marshal Idris Latif after a flight in the newly inducted MiG-25 Foxbat. Gp Capt Apram Jeet Singh VrC in flight suit next to him. Also seen in the photo are AVM R D Sahni , Air Cmde S K Kaul (later CAS), and Wg Cdr Don Lazarus VrC. The aircraft was assembled from a CKD kit just in time to enable the Chief to do a flight - he would retire a few weeks later.

Family car parked in the porch of ancestral house at Village Bohar, Distt Rohtak ,now in Haryana State, which brought back home the personal belongings ( clothes etc) and the ashes of A S Giri for further immersion in the River Ganges.
