Tenure with No.3 Squadron

No.3 Squadron was the first Squadron of the Indian Air Force to convert onto the Hawker Tempest fighter bomber, in late 1946. The Squadron used these aircraft in the Hyderabad Operations and finally replaced them with the De Havilland Vampire in 1952.

No.3 Squadron was also the first operational posting for Arvind Dalaya - Featured here are the various photographs from his time with No.3 Squadron

A Hawker Tempest MkII. I enjoyed flying the Tempest. It was not as graceful as the Spit but it was more powerful and was very stable especially when firing the cannons and rockets. The cockpit was roomier than the Spit and had far less vibration.
