No.19 Squadron

19 Squadron was formed in Agra in 1960 with C-119G Packets. For many years 19 Sqn operated in alternate years in J&K. The base was Srinagar in summer and Pathankot in winter. The squadron used to land at Leh, Fukche and Chushul. Also drop at a number of DZs. The squadron did the first landing at Nyoma Rap in 1962. Also the first landing at Daulat Beg Oldi in 1962, using the J-34 Jet Pack. The squadron operated out of Srinagar and Pathankot during the 1962 operations. The squadron crest was approved by the President. The Squadron moved to Agra during the mid-60s but continued to share the Air maintenance role for J&K with 12 sqn. The Squadron was numberplated on 27 July 1977. Later it was revived on 1 Apr 1985 and was equipped with Dakota for aerial seeding and it was based at Delhi with the TTU.On 1 April 1988 it changed over to the AN-32 during IPKF at Tambaram under father Mathews. The Squadron was subsequently merged with 33 Sqn on 25 oct 1990.
