 Air Force Central Medical Establishment Date Raised : 1947-08-15 Location : New Delhi RAF Central Medical Board (RAFCMB) was established at Lahore in 1940, to conduct the medical examination and assessment of aircrew for flying fitness. Sqn Ldr WG Herald was the first President.Flt Lt AY Alurkar was the first Indian officer to be posted to the Board in 1941.The Board was shifted to Delhi in July 1942. The RAFCMB was shifted to Delhi in July 1942 and taken over by RIAF on 15 Aug 1947 with then Wg Cdr Alurkar as President and Flt Lt JR Kumar as member. The Board was renamed as RIAF Central Medical Board (RIAFCMB) wef 1 April 1948 and subseuqently became IAF Central Medical board (IAFCMB). W.e.f 1 Apr 58 this Units was further, designated as AF Central Medical Establishment (AFCME). In 1969, the Board moved from AFND to Subroto Park.
