 No.220 Squadron Desert Tigers Motto : Shauryam Tejo Dhritih ( Valour, Energy and Firmness) Date Raised : 1957-12-23 Location : Halwara 220 Squadron, AF was formed at 2 Wing, Air Force Station Pune on 9 jan 63. Initially located at Palam as 51 Auxillary Air Force (AAF) Squadron and equipped with Vampire aircraft. The squadron, later re-equipped with the 'Indigenous HF-24 Marut' in April 1969 and flew the Marut in the 1971 Indo-Pak War. In June 1981, the squadron converted onto the MiG-23BN. Moved to halwara in 1997. numberplated in 25. resurrected on 1 sep 11
