From Dara Cooper

It is with a heavy heart that I just heard from Eddie and Bhushan, that Gp Capt Jacob Chakko passed away in his sleep, last night, in Bangalore.

This really comes as a shock. I last spoke to him just about a week ago. I am currently reading his book “Memoirs”, and our conversation was for clarifications for an article on the blog, regarding his trips to France and the UK, when he was part of the Aircraft Selection Team, that was instrumental in selecting the Mystere, Hunter, Canberra and Gnat aircraft for the IAF.  An amazingly talented and brilliant man he  excelled in everything he tried his hand at. From being instrumental in developing the Dashpot for the Mystere in France, to designing and fitting up the Jet Pak on Packets and a host of other projects, some of which never saw the light of day.

He was very enthusiastic about the blog, and was looking forward keenly to the Bangalore reunion. He will be sorely missed.

Our sincerest condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace.
