Details :

During the operations against Pakistan in December, 1971, Flight Lieutenant Arun Laxman Deoskar was a pilot in a FighterBomber Squadron. He carried out a day counter air mission on an enemy airfield deep into enemy territory and destroyed two aircraft on ground in the face of heavy enemy ground fire. On an earlier occasion, he had made another counter air, day operational mission and had damaged enemy airfield installations. On his way back from this mission, he was engaged by a high performance enemy aircraft. Though his aircraft was damaged, he skillfully took evasive action and brought back his aircraft safely to base.

In this action, Flight Lieutenant Arun Laxman Deoskar displayed gallantry, professional skill and devotion to duty of a high order.
