Gp Capt | Devinder Singh Saggu | 8805 AE(L) | Award Date 26 Jan 1991 | Announced 26 Jan 1991 |
Details : | Gp Capt Devinder Singh Saggu was in command of one of the Guided Weapons Training Institutes. As the Commandant of the training institute, Gp Capt Saggu remarkably measured up to the requirements of Air Headquarters. Due to emergent operational deployment of (GW) Squadrons, Air HQ tapered down the duration of course from 24 weeks to 16 weeks. Undeterred by heavy odds and constraints, Gp Capt Saggu successfully completed the course within the time frame laid down. Under the dynamic leadership of Gp Capt Saggu, GW Squadrons were raised and despatched which called for exceptional professional competence, organisational skill and coordinating efforts in testing of missile guidance radars and their associated equipment and acquisition/surveillance radars. One of the most spectacular achievements to the credit of Gp Capt Saggu is the innovative modification devised in the old phased-out power plants of SAM-II system which made these fit for use with the latest system. By devising this modification, besides making effective utilisation of the phased out power plants, Gp Capt Saggu was instrumental in saving for the country more than Rupees Seven Crores in foreign exchange. For his technical innovative organising ability and inspiring leadership, the President is pleased to award Vishisht Seva Medal to Gp Capt Saggu. | |||
