Details : Squadron Leader Subramaniam Srinivasa Rathnam was posted to Air Headquarters Communication Squadron in August 1966 and has since flown 2400 hours. Prior to his joining this unit he had flown over 3000 hours in five vears, of which 2000 hours were over NEFA aittd Naga hills area. Apart from his outstanding keenness for flying, he proved his professional ability by obtaining 'A' transport category and check Pilot's endorsement on CARIBOU aircraft when he had only 4 years of total service. On posting to Air Headquarters Communication Squadron, he began conversion on to a type of aircraft he had not flown previously. He was the first pilot selected for conversion on TU 124 aircraft and has since obtained 'A' transport category on this type also. He has flown over 6200 hours in his service career.

Throughout, Squadron Leader Subramaniam Srinivasa Rathnam displayed courage and devotion to duty.
