During the operations against Pakistan in December 1971, Squadron Leader Dilip Kumar Chatterjee rendered distinguished service by quickly restoring land lines, and VHF and HF communications disrupted by enemy raids. On several days he provided alternate lines to important sections and repaired HF transmitter aerial and Eureka within a very short time after the raids, often by working during nights in spite of unexploded bombs lying in the vicinity. For his devotion to duty, inspiring leadership and exceptional professional skill he is awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal. |
