Wing Commander Bhairon Singh Solanki was commissioned in the Aeronautical Engineering (Electronics) Branch of the Air Force in October, 1952. He has served on the staff of the Air Force Technical College, a number of specialised Signals Units, and

with the Research and Development Organisation. In all these appointments he acquitted himself very creditably.

Since December, 1968 Wing Commander Solanki has been serving in a Ground Training School. As leader of a team he was entrusted with the development of a highly complex and sophisticated electronic device. Under his inspiring leadership and with his exceptional technical expertise, his team successfully designed, developed and demonstrated the device, which is of vital importance to the combat effectiveness of the Indian Air Force. The facilities available at the School for carrying out this task were meagre, but due to his organising and professional skill, tenacity of purpose and great aptitude for improvisation, he was able to overcome all these difficulties.

Wing Commander Bhairon Singh Solanki has consistently rendered distinguished service of a high order, is awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal.
