Details : Group Captain Raman Goel (23757) was commissioned in the Indian Air Force as a pilot in the flying branch on 16 Dec 95 and is presently Commanding a MiG-27 Upgrade Squadron. The officer is a Fighter Strike Leader and has been posted to various units including prestigious Tactics and Air Combat Training Establishment (TACDE).He has a varied and vast experience on MiG-21 T-96, Bison, Su-30 MKI,MiG-27 ML and MiG-27 Upgrade aircraft. As in charge of training at TACDE, the officer’s involvement in meticulous planning, coordination and conduct of first ever Composite Graduate Course of the IAF, is worth a mention. Immediately after assuming Command of the Upgrade Sqn, he took the initiative and challenge of increasing the flying task considerably. During execution, he ensured strict supervision and very high professional standards in the aircrew as well as ground crew which contributed in an impeccable aerospace safety record of the Squadron. Since his taking over, the squadron has been inspected by DASI wherein the squadron was assessed as Average Plus in peace time operations. The performance of the Sqn aircrew during AEB inspection has also been Above Average. With personal involvement, he ensured timely and quality upgradation of aircrew status which resulted in the Sqn aircrew getting empaneled for professional courses on time and also performing well. In view of his Operational orientation, the officer was made team leader to study vulnerability, redeployment and offensive plans during a high level table top exercise. The officer actively involves himself in all station activities. During recently conducted Presidential Standards Presentation, the officer flawlessly commanded the Presidential parade and also ensured conduct of various social events in a befitting manner. His efforts vis-à-vis team building and task accomplishment were par' excellence and this ensured smooth conduct of all the Squadron operations. His positive approach and helpful attitude served as an example for others to emulate. For exceptional devotion to duty, Hon'ble President is pleased to award Vayu Sena Medal (Devotion to Duty) to Group Captain Raman Goel.
