Details : Group Captain Manoj Nair (23725) was commissioned in the Indian Air Force as a pilot in flying branch and is currently on the posted strength of Advance Head Quarter South Western Air Command. He was commissioned in the Indian Air Force as a fighter pilot in the flying branch on 16 Dec 95. During his 20 years of service he has performed the duties of an operational Squadron pilot in four different fighter squadrons. He has been the Flight Commander of a Su-30 MKI Squadron and also served as the Joint Director (Flying) at Directorate of Air Staff Inspection at Air Head Quarter. He has recently finished his Command tenure of a Su-30 MKI Squadron. Gp Capt Manoj is a Fighter Combat Leader with over 4000 hours of accident free fighter flying of Su 30 MKI and MiG 21 T-75 aircraft. The officer has more than 3500 hours on SU-30 aircraft itself. He has been awarded with three stars for flight safety for 1500 hrs of accident! incident free flying on 17 Apr 08. He has been commended by the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Head Quarter South Western Air Command on 08 Oct 02 and 26 Jan 10 and commended by the Chief of the Air Staff on 26 Jan 12 and further commended by Commanding-in-Chief, Strategic Force Command on 24 Aug 16. Gp Capt Manoj is an exceptional professional who has led his unit by personal example of the highest standards. In the past one year, due to meticulous planning and execution of operational flying training, the Squadron has ensured fully operational status for each and every available aircrew in the Squadron. Along with this, the Squadron's average aircraft serviceability has increased by over 10% due to the planning and foresight of the officer. He has always led the Squadron from front, served as a role model to his subordinates with his tireless zeal, knowledge and maturity. Apart from flying training he has ensured that the young pilots were groomed to be 'officers and gentlemen' while understanding and upholding the traditions and enduring values of the Indian Air Force. For exceptional devotion to duty, Hon'ble President is pleased to award Vayu Sena Medal (Devotion to Duty) to Group Captain Manoj Nair (Retired).
