Details : Group Captain Amardeep Singh Pannu (23178) was commissioned in the Indian Air Force as a pilot in the flying branch on 17 Dec 94. He ispresently undergoing the Higher Command Course at College of Air Warfare. The officer had earlier held the appointments of CO & Flight Commander of a Mirage 2000 Squadron and Station Aerospace Safety and Inspection Officer (SASIO) at a large base. He is an alumnus of DSSC and did his Qualified Flying Instructor's course in USA followed by instructional tenure abroad. The officer has 2900 hours of flying experience of which 1700 hrs are on Mirage 2000 ac. As Commanding Officer, his primary focus was on improving the operational capability of the Squadron. He laid emphasis on effective training and better understanding of both Aircrew and Engineering Officers. The unit participated and performed exceptionally in various Air Force and Command level exercises. The Squadron's performance in Central Air Command ExEklavya in May 13 was exceptional with the Squadron being the best in Conventional bombing in the team event and was also adjudged Overall Best in Ex Eklavya in 2013-14 with the Squadron receiving 05 trophies out of 07. The Squadron also carried out Annual armament detachment and Ex Eklavya detachment 2014-15 with exceptional results. The Squadron was inspected by Directorate of Air Staff Inspection in Sep 13 and the overall performance was 'Average Plus'. He has also taken keen initiative to enhance the Op potential of M-2000 fleet by formulating various SOPs. He has been closely involved in welfare activities for all personnel in the station. He has organised various activities like Air Adventure Camp for motivating all personnel and their families and creating Aerospace Safety awareness. The Squadron also celebrated its 80th anniversary during his tenure. For exceptional devotion to duty, Hon'ble President is pleased to award Vayu Sena Medal (Devotion to Duty) to Group Captain Amardeep Singh Pannu.
