| Details : | Group Captain Harjit Singh Sidana (21908) Edn was commissioned in the Education Branch of Indian Air Force on 13 Jun 92. During the past 24 years of his service career, he has held several key and important assignments. The officer was inducted in the Liaison Unit (LU) in 1995 and has had five successful tenures in various Liaison units performing Counter Intelligence duties. He commanded No 6 and No 5 AFLUs respectively. Presently, he is the Director (CSIT) at Air HQ (VB) since 03 Nov 2014. The officer has contributed immensely towards developing his source network and utilizing the Counter Intelligence capability of the Liaison Units to the maximum. He has been instrumental in cracking two Live Counter Intelligence cases in August 2014 and in December 2015 by neutralizing two Live spies, who had been working for the enemy country and passing sensitive information across. The officer is presently handling an ongoing Cl case in coordination with various agencies. He has been successful in gathering several vital leads which may give important leads to solve a large Counter Intelligence network. The officer has had a key role in establishing a server based Network in the Liaison Units during his tenure at Guwahati, Kanpur and Delhi Liaison Unit, thus achieving a secure and paperless unit. He had also setup a state of the art Interrogation Room at 6 Liaison Unit, Kanpur. Being a qualified Civil Engineer, he designed the entire OTM complex of 5 Liaison Unit during his tenure as the Commanding Officer of the uni1. The officer is the architect and developer of a secure Server Based web application named Chanakya Online Processing System (COPS), which has been fully developed and implemented in April 2016 for linking all the 10 Liaison Units through a dedicated VPN. This system is fully enabled for encrypted transmission and storage of vital data pertaining to aircraft, trespassers and personnel under observation, besides sending / receiving of the area reports, correspondence letters and Cl returns. The efforts of Group Captain Harjit Singh Sidana have enhanced the overall Counter Intelligence capability of the IAF by way of real time analysis and processing of data by the Liaison Units. His exemplary performance, dedication and untiring efforts in the field of Counter Intelligence is highly commendable. For distinguished service of high order Hon'ble President is pleased to award Vishisht Seva Medal to Group Captain Harjit Singh Sidana. | |||
