Details : | Group Captain Sandeep Khan (21581) was commissioned in the Indian Air Force as a Navigator in the flying branch on 14 Dec 91. He is a Qualified Navigation Instructor (QNI) with over 5000 hrs of flying experience and is the Commanding Officer of Navigation Training School (NTS) since 13 May 13. An accomplished professional and QNI, he has held Inst/RTR Cat 'Pl on Avro, AN-32 and IL-76 ac. An AF Examiner he was instrumental in formulating and streamlining the training and aircrew examining procedures. As Chief Navigation Instructor at the Fixed Wing Training faculty at Yelahanka, he introduced unconventional methods for making the training more effective; the highlight being conceptualisation and design of the Radio Telephony (IVI')simulator. He later commanded a Pechora Squadron where he contributed significantly towards finding effective solutions for siting of missile systems. As CO NTS, he has consistently worked towards enhancing the training standards by creating new training infrastructure and raising the instructional ability of QNIs through sustained skill development plans. He conceptualised and trained the QNIs in creating video tutorial modules that can be accessed by trainees as well as aircrew across IAF. Under his guidance, use of digital maps and Geographic Information System (GIS) for sortie planning has enabled better op orientation and optimal exploitation of training resources. The unit has handled all training and operational tasks with utmost professionalism while maintaining the highest safety standards notwithstanding the ageing Avro fleet being operated by the unit. He motivates personnel and manages available resources for achieving organizational goals and is informal yet firm in maintaining a synergetic environment.
