Details : Group Captain Kondengalara Aboo Ahamed Sanjeeb (20227) was commissioned in the Aeronautical Engineering (Mechanical) branch of IAF on 04 Sep 1988. During his service career, he has held various important appointments including SE (IL-76) 4 Wg, SE (M) 12 Wg /10 Wg , SEO of Boeing 737-200 Sqn, CO of a Training Institute, SEO of AWACS Squadron and Director Engineering for Russian Transport Aircraft [D Eng T(R2)] at Air HQ (VB). Gp Capt KAA Sanjeeb was the Team Leader of the PMT for induction of IL-78 FRA into IAF in year 2003. During his tenure as SEO of AWACS Sqn, he had formulated an efficient Warranty Monitoring System that enabled freezing of aircraft warranty for 21 months, resulting in significant savings to the exchequer. As D Eng T(R2), with his vast experience, commitment, management skills and grass root level involvement, he had ensured an unprecedented serviceability figure of seven IL-76 aircraft in Feb 12. Serviceability of ARP-3 Pod had depleted to an alarming figure of five by mid 2011. Due to his involvement and liaison with OEM i AA Israel, serviceability of ARP- 3 Pods was enhanced to 13, by end of 2011. He was commended by the Chief of Air Staff in 2010 and by Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Central Air Command in 1997. As CEO, 4 Wing, with his vast professional experience, in-depth technical acumen and hands on approach, he ensured a remarkably high serviceability. It was primarily because of his out of the box thinking and excellent supervision that the base was ab la to successfully build-up prolonged AOG IL-76 , without any external support. The aircraft was on AOG for six and a half years and was deficient of 1068 items. HAL had quoted Rs 3.2 crores, for the build up of An-32 aircraft which was on AOG for past 08 years. This was objected by IFA at HQ MC. As tasked by Air HQ, AOG buildup of An-32 aircraft, was successfully completed under his able supervision and guidance at base. During the Officer's tenure, IL Avionics Lab had proved to be instrumental towards retrieval of numerous IL-76 / IL-78 fleet critical avionics aggregates. This has not only enhanced IL-76178 fleet availability, but also enabled saving of precious forex of the exchequer, against the ROH cost. A BEML wheel dozer for which OEM had quoted Rs. 36 Lakh for replacement of the torque converter assembly, was recovered by spending just about Rs. 3000 at base. For distinguished service of high order, Hon'ble President is pleased to award Vishisht Seva Medal to Group Captain Kondengalara Aboo Ahamed Sanjeeb.
