Details : Group Captain Eric Janiclass Anthony (19892) was commissioned in the Indian Air Force as a pilot in the fighter stream on 17 Dec 88 and has 2488 hours of flying experience on MiG-21, MiG-23 BN and MiG-27 aircraft. He is a Fighter Strike Leader, Pilot Attack Instructor. Instrument Rating Instructor & Examiner and a graduate of Defence Services Staff College. He has commanded a Pechora Squadron and has held the appointments Joint Director Weapons (JD Wpns) at Air HQ and Air-I of HQ AOC J & K. As JD Wpns at Air HQ. he carried out revision of Danger Areas. projected procurement of new weapons and modernization of ranges leading to an enhancement of the IAF's offensive capabilities. As Air-I of HQ AOC J&K. he ensured full spectrum of air operations at high altitudes giving tremendous exposure to both aircrew and ground forces. Also, his vision and foresight was visible from the Statement of case authored by him for creation of op infrastructure at airbases in J&K and a new base at Nyoma to enhance IAFs strategic posture. He commanded 10 TAC successfully and in a unique manner. wherein he achieved all the laid down tasks by higher formations of Air Force and Army in an innovative manner. His efforts towards strengthening the pillars of jointmanship with 10 Corps of Army resulted in his unit being assessed as Average Plus during the visit of Directorate of Air Staff Inspection. His in depth knowledge of operations made him the leading strategist in planning and coordinating joint operational discussions in the higher formations of the Army. The synergized Effect Based Air plan. projected by him was very well appreciated by the Army Chief and other senior officers. He planned and executed full spectrum of missions required for the surface operations in a typical campaign by IAF, including successful trials of new concepts based on his vast field experience. The officer's initiative and hard work was very well appreciated by 10 Corps Cdr and HQ WAC during all the joint exercises. Under his command the unit excelled not only in Operations but in Maintenance and Administration also. Under his guidance the AF Net communications became operational at the TAC including the latest Mobile Communication Terminals (MCT), which were used extensively during joint 7xercises. He also organized a cycle expedition successfully. With his effective liaison he was able to install a RO water plant at his TAC. Under his able leadership. HQ WAC declared this TAC for the second consecutive year as Best in overall performance for the period 2011-12. For distinguished service of high order, Hon'ble President is pleased to award Vishisht Seva 4edal to Group Captain Eric Janiclass Anthony.
