Details : | Group Captain Lanka Venkata Sai Ramesh (19626) was commissioned in the Indian Air Force as an engineer in the Aeronautical Engineering (Electronics) branch on 12 Sep 88. He is qualified on all variants of MiG-21 and has successfully held appointments at all levels of functioning in a Flying Base including Senior Technical Officer of Flying Squadrons, Senior Engineer (Aircraft) and Chief Engineering Officer. He has also functioned as Joint Director and Director at Air HQ. He has gained two Masters Degrees after completion of courses at Defence Services Staff College and College of Defence Management. He exhibits commendable technical acumen, engineering insight and management skills. As Director at Air HQ he undertook a study of the requirement of aeroengines for sustaining all the variants of MiG-21 aircraft through their life cycle. He played a major role in recovery of a BISON ac declared beyond repair by HAL. With his engineering analysis, he was able to impress upon HAL to recover the aircraft by using the mono-cock structure of another accident ac also rendered unrecoverable. The ac after recovery has been put into operation. He has been associated with important projects like life extension of Ai-20D aeroengine and TVC of SU-30. He also worked on the current Maintenance Instructions. He possesses exceptional foresight and co-ordination skills which he effectively utilizes in his present appointment as Command Co-ordination Officer. Due to his professional competence, exposure gained in the field, out of the box thinking and communication skills; he represents Maintenance Command in the 'Think Tank' of the IAF. He is an animal lover, sports person and an accomplished golfer. He also takes keen interest in social and cultural activities.
