Details : Group Captain Shivkumar Srinivasan (19520) was commissioned in the Indian Air Force as a Transport pilot in the flying branch on 11 Jun 88. He is an AN-32 and IL-76 pilot with over 5700 flying hrs to credit. He is a Cat 'A Qualified Flying Instructor (QF1), alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College and Army War College. Other than operational and instructional assignments, he has served as Airport Manager of United Nations Airfield Services Unit. Joint Director (Personnel) at Air Headquarters and commanded a frontline AN-32 squadron. He is Director Operations (Transport) since 08 Apr 12. Gp Capt S Srinivasan operationalised IAF's first ever Airfield Services Unit at UN Mission DR Congo in Sep 04. Under his supervision, the unit efficiently handled 3600 air moves, 33.000 passengers and 13,000 tons of cargo during the one year deputation period. As Joint Director (Personnel) at Air Headquarters. he ushered in contemporary Human Resource endeavours. Significant to mention are HR initiatives for the Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) fleet and induction of young aircrew and lady pilots into advanced transport aircraft fleet. As Commanding Officer of an AN-32 Squadron, he was instrumental in effecting the first ever sustained summer landing operations to Daulet Beg Oldie Advanced Landing Ground (DBO ALG). Under his command, the Squadron air landed the highest ever load quantum at the ALG. He personally trained and operationalised seven sets of aircrew for operations to the ALG. AN-32 disaster relief operations in the aftermath of the 2010 mudslide at Leh were spearheaded by him. The unit was awarded the 'Best Transport Unit' and CAS Unit Citation for 2010 for exemplary all round performance. As Director Operations (Transport), the officer formulated Operational Air Mobilisation Plans (DAMP) for the Indian Army and 1AF IAF's plan was successfully validated during Ex Livewire in Mar 13. He implemented rationalization processes for the transport fleet which resulted in better utilization and availability of assets. He was involved in the operationalisation process of the newly inducted C-130J fleet. For distinguished service of high order, Hon'ble President is pleased to award Vishisht Seva Medal to Group Captain Shivkumar Srinivasan.
