Details : | Wing Commander Ramesh Chandra Tripathi (19383) Logistics/Para Jump Instructor is on the posted strength of a Paratroopers Training School AF since Aug 2003.Wg Cdr Tripathi after completing the basic and advance mountaineering courses with 'A' grading from recognized institutes, has been pursuing mountaineering since 1992. He has actively participated in IAF mountaineering expeditions since then. During the pre-expedition training to Mt Kamet (7757) Wg Cdr Tripathi sacrificed the summit 150 meters below the summit in order to save his fellow mountaineer from a height of 7500 meters. With rare dedication, he organised a rescue and brought the casualty down to 6400 meters. Wg Cdr Tripathi in his attempt to save life of his buddy, received third degree frost bite in his hands and toes.In the recent IAF Mount Everest Expedition, Wg Cdr Tripathi showed exemplary performance. The officer, a proficient mountaineer, took part in the second summit attempt after the first one had failed and reached the summit In record time, braving cold weather and extremely difficult terrain. In a situation where no IAF officer had been before, he has shown exemplary courage and determination in bringing laurels for the service.For his act of exceptional courage and bringing laurels to the Indian Air Force, the Hon'ble President Is pleased to award 'Vayu Sena Medal (Gallantry)' to Wing Commander Ramesh Chandra Tripathi. |
