Details : Wing Commander Man Singh Awana (19153) Flying (Pilot) was commissioned in the Indian Air Force as a Fighter Pilot on 19 Dec 1987 and has been on the posted strength of Aircrew Examining Board as an Air Force Examiner since 12 Jun 2006. He has been the Flight Commander of a Flight which looks after inspections of all Fighter Squadrons. Wg Cdr Awana is a highly accomplished professional with exceptional devotion to duty. He has earlier commanded a Mig-21 Bison Squadron during which his contribution towards the induction of the Bison aircraft was noteworthy. He is a Category 'N. Instructor and an Instrument Rating Instructor/Examiner with over 340 hrs of accident free flying. As an Air Force Examiner, Wg Cdr Awana's involvement in the conduct of aircrew testing and categorization has been commendable. In addition, being the Flight Commander, he has planned and organized all tasks in an exemplary manner. He currently retains currency and proficiency on a variety of aircraft including the Mig-29, Mig-21, Kiran and HPT-32. In the past two years he has visited a total of 46 bases where he flew 23 hrs on different aircraft types without any incident/accident. Over and above the task of inspection he has also shouldered the responsibility of conducting a number of IRIE courses. His depth of knowledge, analytic ability, flying skills and above all the high degree of responsibility and maturity displayed have made him an asset to the organization. Wg Cdr Awana has a very positive attitude and clear vision. The officer possesses a high capability to think and conceive new ideas leading to improvement in existing methods of work. Tasks given to him are completed well in time with good research and quality. His overall contribution towards the organization has been noteworthy and is commendable. For his distinguished service of high order, Hon'ble President is pleased to award 'Vishisht Seva Medal' to Wing Commander Man Singh Awana.
