Wing Commander Navjodh Singh (19096) AE (M) was commissioned on 07 Sep 87 in the AE (M) Branch of 1AF. He has been posted as Chief Engineering Officer (CEO) of AF Station, New Delhi since 08 May 06. During his distinguished career, he has held many important appointments i.e. AD in Dte of Engg (D) at Air HQ, STO of AN-32 Sqns, Senior Engineer of AN-32 aircraft in Wing and Sqn Cdr of Rotables Production Sqn at a BRD. He was commended by CAS on 26 Jan 99 for his outstanding contribution to AN-32 fleet.

He has resolved critical problems of AN32 fleet like deterioration of NLG parts and failure of hydraulic pumps. He brought out the inherent design lacuna in existing AN-32 hydraulic system and proposed modification of hydraulic system which was well appreciated by CEMILAC and RCMA (K) and was immediately cleared for implementation. Already three aircraft are flying with modifications proposed by him. He has also formulated reclamation technology of AN-32 NLG spares which has given enormous confidence in formulation of indigenized overhaul technology at the BRD.

Presently, he is the CEO, of AF Station New Delhi which has the largest MT fleet in IAF. His untiring efforts have ensured 99.5% serviceability of 500 vehicles covering 76 lakh kms per annum. He ensured this by modernizing MTR&S, introducing pneumatic power tools on all working Stations, installation of modern test equipments like Automatic Tyre changer, Paint Drier, Air conditioner leak tester, Alternator test rig and Radiator cap tester etc. Various in house facilities in MT like overhauling of engines, denting/painting bay and upholstery shop, have produced a high standard of workmanship which have been well appreciated by the users. To further increase serviceability and to avoid possibility of use of spurious spare parts he introduced system of procuring spare parts from OEM like Maruti Udyog, Hindustan Motors and Swaraj Mazda. He has also computerized MT documentation and detailing procedure to ensure efficient functioning, monitoring of movement of vehicles & provide maximum user satisfaction. Under his able leadership, Station MT was assessed at 96%, which is highest ever by DMT during annual inspection of 412 Stn MT.

Wg Cdr Navjodh Singh with his exceptional professional knowledge, welfare oriented approach, excellent leadership qualities and positive attitude is a perfect Air warrior and a role model for others to emulate.

For his engineering acumen, firm allegiance to service objectives and distinguished service of high order, Hon'ble President is pleased to award 'Vishisht Seva Medal' to Wing Commander Navjodh Singh.
