Details : | Air Commodore Anurag Joshi (18280) was commissioned in the Indian Air Force as a Pilot in the flying branch on 07 Jun 1986. He has held the appointments of Flight Commander (Fit Cdr), Commanding Officer (CO) of a MiG-21 Bis I Bison operating squadron, as Station Commander (Stn Cdr) of Air Force Station, Salua and is presently the Air Officer Commanding (AOC) of Air Force Station, Gorakhpur. He has also been a Joint Director Perspective Planning and Plans Management (JDPPPM). His systemic efforts at improving fighter combat and instrument flying capabilities of aircrew in MiG-29 and MiG-21squadrons contributed immensely in IAF's capability. As FItCdr, he brought back two Mig-21 Bis ac safely which had serious in-flight snags. As CO of a fighter Sqn he built a well trained team while inducting MiG-21 Bison aircraft through excellent coordination with HAL, Nasik. As Joint Director Perspective Planning and Plans Management, he optimised monitoring of Capital schemes at AirHQ (VB)for faster processing and monitoring of Capital Schemes. He brought laurels to India and the IAF by his exceptional professional knowledge and display of pride in the Country and the IAF while doing staff course at Malaysia in 2002. He has been commended twice for his dedication to service by Air Officer Commanding in Chief and once by Chief of Air Staff. As Stn Cdr, his Station achieved the 'Best Non-Flying Station Trophy' of Eastern Air Command within a year of his taking over. He as Estate Manager finalised cases of 379 encroachers on IAF land pending since 1986, under the provisions of PPE Act 1971. As AOC, he has motivated his team to transform the Station's environment and its external outlook through exceptional coordination and support of District Administration. He pursued land security and almost 1500 acres lands' records were obtained. The Station became the "Best Improved Station". The Fighter Sqn, Air Force School and Air Force Dental Centre based at the Station also were declared the 'Best in Central Air Command' within a year of his taking over. He proactively ensured exceptional serviceability & support to Mi-17s operating in Naxal infested areas. For distinguished service of high order, Hon'ble President is pleased to award Vishisht Seva Medal to Air Commodore Anurag Joshi. |
