Details : Air Commodore Pijush Mukherjee (17671) was commissioned in the Indian Air Force as an engineer in the Aeronautical Engineering (Electronics) branch on 08 Sep 84. He has held important appointments such as Station Commander of MCC, Basant Nagar (during the entire implementation of AFNET from May 2009 to August 2011), Command System Officer at HQ MC overseeing the production and maintenance support of all System BRDs, Chief Technical Officer of two ADDCs (503 Su and 507 SU). He has undergone 8 TSOC and 32 HACC. He was commended by AOC-in-C WAC on 15 Aug 94 and 08 Oct 95 and by CAS on 08 Oct 01, for his contribution towards maintaining high serviceability and improving reliability of THD Radars. Presently he is functioning as PD Sig (Air) wef 01 Sep 11. Due to his continuous focused and dedicated efforts along with his team, AFNET today is a stable and reliable network. He had conceived and steered the AFNET phase-I! project successfully extending connectivity to 70 additional sites. His contribution in providing required communications solutions to all IAF projects and exercises including Tri-services exercises is praise worthy. He had been handling all Tri-services issues effectively for extracting maximum benefit for IAF Officer possesses exceptional capability to motivate his subordinates for professional excellence. Air Cmde Pijush Mukherjee has been instrumental in liaisoning with MoD & IT for the release of frequency for the WCDMA based AFCEL project. With his active pursuance with Wireless Advisor, various AF stations/units, OEMs and the System Integrator, the launch of AFCEL services in NCR had been possible. Officer had been actively involved in finalizing the Tropo upgradation plan, to operate as a separate network for core operations. With his proactive approach, he has managed to leverage the facilities available at DEAL,DRDO for initial planning of extension of Tropo to the southern peninsula for operational connectivity. For distinguished service of high order, Hon'ble President is pleased to award Vishisht Seva Medal to Air Commodore Pijush Mukherjee.
