Details : | On taking over this assignment, he reorganised the functioning of the cell and took care of all aspects of provisioning and procurement in the most competent and dexterous manner. He computerised all the activities and vast data of MiG-29 cell and made excellent use of the data for improvement of MiG-29 fleet. His timely initiation of procurement actions culminated in finanl isation of several important contracts. It not only resulted in reduction of number of aircraft on ground (AOG) in field units but also enabled the concerned Base Repair Depot (BRD) to achieve the target production task of overhaul of MiG-29 aircraft in year 99-2000. AOGs, which were about 1400 lines at the time of his joining the maintenance cell, were brought down to 70 lines in a span of about one and half years and the production of MiG-29 aircraft reached to 12 aircraft in 1999-2000. On taking over the responsibility of Su-30 cell, he got on the complex job of setting up of Service Support, centre in India for repair of Su-30 items and initiated many cases, which are in advance stages of culmination. Besides his exceptional involvement in his job, he has made significant contribution in streamlining many procurement procedures for the overall improvement of the Russian aircraft fleet For his exceptional devotion to duty, dedication, selfless service and exemplary professionalism, the Hon'ble President is pleased to award 'Vishisht Seva Medal' to Squadron Leader Naval Sabharwal. | |||
