Details : | Air Commodore Sanjay Agarwal (17420) was commissioned in the Indian Air Force as an engineer in the Aeronautical Engineering (Electronics) branch on 13 Feb 84. He has held several key appointments, which include Director Engineering Mirage at Air Headquarters, Deputy Command Engineering Officer at Headquarters Central Air Command, Commanding Officer of Communication Training Institute and Senior Engineer (Electronics) at Air Force Station, Gwalior. The officer is a graduate in Electrical Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering with a brilliant academic record. He has also served as an instructor at Air Force Technical College, Senior Intelligence Officer in a Wireless Experimental Unit and Senior Engineering Officer at a fighter squadron. The officer was commended by Chief of the Air Staff in 2006. The officer while working in Dte of Eng Mirage ensured smooth induction of ten new aircraft. Cases for indigenisation of critical Testers, upgrade of simulators and second line test benches and repair and overhaul task were vigorously pursued and converted into contracts. While commanding a training institute, it was a great challenge to transform the young recruits into the airwarriors. His ingenious approach to task, sheer dedication and salutary efforts saw rise in pass percentages with positive feedbacks from the units. As Air Officer Commanding at Air Force Station, Tughlakabad, he has been instrumental in bringing in visible changes in work ethos. The Station is the first unit in IAF for being awarded with Environment Management System (ISO 14001:2004) certification by Bureau of Indian Standards in February 2014. The impetus given in indigenisation has resulted in full expenditure against the allotment during 2013-14. A close watch on status of assets and meticulous directions issued by him has ensured high op-status of Surface to Air Guided Weapon (SAGW) systems. It includes proactive approach in providing solutions to field units through extensive use of tele & sarathi-assistance, conduct of workshops! seminars. The roadmap for sustenance of Pechora system and setting up of in-house D-level facilities for Rohini radar is being vigorously followed with defined time lines. Disposal of salvage has been given due thrust and approximately 62 tons of downgraded equipment has been evacuated between Oct 2012 and Mar 2014, thereby, generating revenue of Rs 2.5 crores. To monitor and track the activities related to overhaul in various Production Wings, the Depot has taken the lead in implementing the Micro Soft Project. The other initiatives taken include reduction in office carbon footprint, installation of biometric devices at vital places and improvements in common areas (viz Unit Run Canteen, messes, parks etc).
