Details : Group Captain Nitin Shankar Vaidya (17208) Administration was commissioned on 28 May 83. He is on the posted strength of HQ Eastern Air Command (EAC)with effect from 20 Apr 09. He is an Air Traffic Control Officer (ATCO) of a high calibre; he achieved the highest category for professional competence, Category 'N. Gp Capt Vaidya has the distinction of being an instructor at ATCOs' Training Establishment as well as an ATC Inspector in Directorate of Air Staff Inspection at Air Headquarters. He has held important appointments like an Air Force Examiner for ATC, Senior ATC Officer, Chief Administrative Officer in UN Mission at Congo and Squadron Commander of Administrative Support Group (ASG) at Air Force Station Bareilly. During his tenure as Squadron Commander ASG, he initiated and executed a large number of work services amounting to Rs 206 crores towards infrastructure development for SU-30 MKI aircraft and also for improvement in the quality of life. For his dedicated service he has been commended twice by CAS and once by AOC-in-C. He has always infused a new sense of enthusiasm and work culture and channelised energy into solving problems of personnel on a fast track with a proactive approach. He has ensured that his staff remains focused on expediting all applications without delay and paste its disposal on EAC web page for instant accessibility which has provided great relief to PBOR in the field. With his vast experience and personal involvement, he ensured that security equipment worth Rs 400 lakhs was purchased and distributed to all stations in EAC. This has given a great fillip to security of Air Force Bases. He has closely monitored and exercised strict control over prudent and appropriate deployment of manpower. It was largely due to his effective management that expenditure on temporary moves was maintained well below the ceiling and EAC surrendered Rs 281akhs i.e. substantial savings. Gp Capt Vaidya has been supervising activities of the entire Adm Branch and maintaining the highest possible standards. His involvement in various events like EAC Commanders' Conference and EAC Golden Jubilee celebrations was noteworthy which ensured high standards in all events. For distinguished service of high order, Hon'ble President is pleased to award 'Vishisht Seva Medal' to Group Captain Nitin Shankar Vaidya.
