| Details : | Group Captain KP Unni Krishnan Nair (17023) Flying (Navigator) was commissioned in the Indian Air Force as a Navigator in the Flying Branch on 29 Dec 1982. He has held various field and staff appointments which include Commanding Officer, Navigational Training School (NTS) at Air Force Station Begumpet and Director Operations (Navigation) at Air Headquarters. He has undergone the Air Staff Course at Defence Services Staff College and Higher Air Command Course at College of Air Warfare. He was commended by the Chief of the Air Staff in Oct 2004. As Station Commander by his inspirational leadership and his selfless diligence has effected a radical transformation in the Station. He has displayed remarkable vision to achieve radical changes in all sphere of the Station. He has steadfastly focused on qualitative achievement of service tasks, adopting a diligent and meticulous approach in the discharge of his duties and has displayed commendable selflessness. AF Station Barrackpore has immensely gained from his unrelenting commitment during his ongoing tenure, both in functionality and aesthetics. His innovative measure of combined cooking at the Airmen's Mess for DSC personnel, Airmen and SNCOs of the Station and centralized distribution has not only resulted in optimal utilization of depleted civilian manpower, but also has improved the quality of food tremendously contributing directly to their high morale. AF Station Barrackpore was adjudged the Best Non-flying Station of Eastern Air Command for 2007. The huge success of the Placement Fair held at Air Force Station Barrackpore is a testimony of the officer's leadership and organizational skills. He has displayed remarkable acumen in ensuring cooperation with the Army Station Commander as also Naval Station collocated in Barrackpore thereby creating an atmosphere of synergy amongst the three services. Gp Capt Nair has proven to be an asset to the IAF by virtue of his sterling qualities of leadership. The officer continues to utilize his tenure in command of AF Station Barrackpore to serve the interests of the IAF in the true spirit of the Air Warrior. For his distinguished service of high order, Hon'ble President is pleased to award 'Vishisht Seva Medal' to Group Captain KP Unni Krishnan Nair. | |||
