Wing Commander Harish Tiagi (16099) Adm was commissioned on 15 Jun 80 in the Administration Branch of the IAF. He has held appointments of Adjutant, Divisional Officer at National Defence Academy (NDA), Commanding Officer of an Airmen Selection Centre, Assistant Provost Marshal, Honorary Treasurer of Air Force Wives Welfare Association at Air HQ, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Administrative Officer. He is a graduate of Defence Services Staff College. He has been commended by the CAS in 1994 and by AOC-in-C in 1998. Presently, he is Camp Commandant at Air HQ.

As Camp Commandant of Air HQ, he has creditably discharged the mammoth responsibilities of maintenance of the build ings, provision of stores for office man agement and equipment account services. He has utilised his experience to execute a number of works to improve the infrastructure and ambience of offices, specially the refreshing and wellmaintained lawns and foliage. He was instrumental in replacement of three lifts of 1960 vintage by modern elevators in a record time. Due to his foresight he also revised the scope of work to install a silent generator of 380 KVA to provide standby supply for lights and fans at Vayu Bhavan. The installation of Compactors on rails was an innovative plan to create additional space for records. During the economy drive he critically reviewed the annual electric tariff of Rs. 1.36 crore during 2000-01. The repair of electronic water management system, re-utilisation of over flow of water and water saving measures provided additional water and reduced the running of pumping sets. The energy saving measures initiated by him have resulted in saving of Rs. 52 lakh on electric tariff during 2001-02. He has consistently evolved innovative procedures to maintain the build ings, landscape and facilities neat and tidy at all the times.

Due to his inventory management and standardisation the best quality of stores were provided at very competitive rates. The excellent quality and prompt delivery has led to high degree of user satisfaction. His strict procedural control resulted in exemplary financial and inventory management at Air HQ. During the period he also initiated disposal of salvage stores which resulted in decongestion of offices and creation of storage space.

Due to his professional managerial skills and eye for detail, the Air HQ has successfully organised a number of formal receptions of visiting dignitaries, Commander's Conferences and Guards of Honour in a befitting manner even at very short notice.

For distinguished service of high order, the Hon'ble President is pleased to award 'Vishisht Seva Medal' to Wing Commander Harish Tiagi.
