Details : Air Commodore Jaspal Singh Aulakh (15363) Logistics was commissioned on 08 June 78 in the Logistics Branch of IAF. The 33 years that proceeded, include fine performance as Senior Logistics Officer at two flying stations, Commanding Officer of Movement Control Unit and an Equipment Depot, Director Stores at Air HQs and instructor at College of Defence Management. He is presently Principle Director of Procurement (PD Pro c) at Air HQ. He has been commended by the Chief of Air Staff in Aug 1989. During 'Op Safed Sagar', Air Force Station Chandigarh was designated IAF nodal hub. Officer on account of his meticulous planning formed Logistics Support cell providing 24x7 services to Ops Sqn. Large volume of armament and critical stores were mobilized on make shift pallets ensuring quick turnaround time of aircraft. As Director Stores, during period 2004-06, the officer brought about dynamic changes in enhancing the ATF tankage by initiating case for construction of BPI (Bulk Petroleum Installation) by the PSU Oil Companies at their cost besides economising on refueling by providing Hydrant facilities and into - aeroplane refueling by Oil Companies. His vigorous efforts, effective liaison and persistent follow-up resulted in acceptance of construction of BPI's and services by PSU Oil Companies at their cost thus accruing huge saving to the exchequer. The officer also introduced direct dispensing of MT fuel by Mls IOC on the concept of Company Owned Company Operated Model at Air Force Station New Delhi which is the only of its kind amongst Services. As Commanding Officer of an Equipment Depot the officer brought about best inventory management practices by introducing Vertical Carousal Systems for housing Embraer and Boeing Spares. The depot also had the rare distinction of being the first depot to be certified as ISO 9001-2000. After taking over as PD Proc, the procurement functions at Air HQ in the recent past have witnessed fructification of several contracts with utmost transparency as per CVC guidelines. Air Cmde Jaspal Singh Aulakh all through his tenure, has displayed a quest for excellence and simplifications of the system to improve efficiency. For distinguished service of high order, Hon'ble President is pleased to award 'Vishisht Seva Medal' to Air Commodore Jaspal Singh Aulakh.
