Details : | Air Commodore Milan Ramlalji Ahir (15267) Aeronautical Engineering (Electronics) was commissioned in the Aeronautical Engineering branch of the JAF on 26 Dec 77. He is a post graduate in Satellite Communication and Remote Sensing from lIT, Kharagpur. In this 32 years of service, he has held important appointments, which include STO of P-40 Radar unit, CTO of EE & IU, Range Director (Electronics) of Electronic Warfare Range, Commanding Officer, 41 WEU, Director Air Staff Requirements (EW&VE),Air HQ, Station Commander of 12 BRD and Head of Faculty (HOF), (EW & IT) at College of Air Warfare (CAW). He has undergone Air Defence Radar Course in Russia and Higher Air Command Course at CAW, Secunderabad. As Range Director (Electronics), EW Range he was deeply involved in the formulation of SOPs for new EW Systems, finalisation of syllabus for EW workshops for Operational Crew and writing of EW precis. While commanding a Wireless Experimental Unit, he made immense contribution towards national security. Whilst being the Director of ASR (EW & VEl, at Air HQ, this officer has had to his credit the culmination of a number of EW System projects. Under his leadership, as Station commander 12 BRD, the depot has the distinction of improving the operational availability of critical EW assets through enhanced production and initiation of a number of indiginisation projects concerning Ground Support/Handling Equipments. As HOF (EW & IT) at CAW, he planned and developed EW tactics and techniques for War Gaming and improved the quality of teaching. As Principal Director Radar, his current assignment concerns maintenance management of one of the largest sets of JAF inventories. Air Defence Radars, both ADGES & Non ADGES, GCA Radars, Navigational Aids and Aircraft Testers - the list of his responsibilities is long. This Air Officer has put in exceptional efforts and effectively monitored and directed activities covering a very large span of control. He has kept firm control on the project activities of induction and commissioning of SRE, PAR and LLLWR radars. The successful completion of 16 radar sites with COTS ADHS, up gradation of Master T radar for AD role and ASTERIX - 048 mode for IACCS integration, MOH of TRS - 2215 radars and formulation of maintenance philosophy of AD and GCA radars are the result of his untiring effort and sincere dedication. For distinguished service of high order, innovative ideas and high level professional competence, Hon'ble President is pleased to award 'Vishisht Seva Medal' to Air Commodore Milan Ramlalji Ahir. |
