|Details :|| |
Gp Capt Sinha has served as Chief Engineering Officer of an Operational base since 11 Dec 2000. The MiG-23 BN aircraft operating from the Base had suffered from very poor serviceability due to fuel leak/cracks from integral fuel tanks, spurious fire warning, premature engine withdrawals, landing gear beam cracks and hosts of other maintenance related problems. In a very short time, he coordinated all repair activities, moulded the Tech Flight and the technical personnel of the three Sqns as a team and produced remarkable results in ensuring enhanced serviceability and reliability of aircraft.
During 'Op Parakram' he ensured a serviceability of approximately 80% for the MiG-23 BN aircraft despite the large number of maintenance and sustainability problems. He also ensured smooth induction of a large number of aircraft and huge quantity of weapons positioned at the Station. The quality and extent of work carried out by the officer has been appreciated by higher formations. He has motivated officers and airmen to produce high quality work even under difficult conditions.
For his hard work, dedication to duty and distinguished service of high order, the Hon'ble President is pleased to award 'Vishisht Seva Medal' to Group Captain Ashok Kumar Sinha.
