Air Commodore Arvind Jeet Singh Walia (12155) Adm has been on the posted strength of Air Headquarters since 04 Jan 2000 and is functioning as Director of Organisation. During his chequered career of more than 31 years he has held various important appointments like Commanding Officer of a Mobile Radar unit, Chief Administrative Officer of three major Air Force Stations, performing sensitive charter of duties.

He is a versatile and innovative Administrative Officer who has constantly exhibited a very high degree of professionalism and administrative acumen throughout his career. During his tenure as Chief Administrative Officer at Tezpur and Guwahati, the Stations were adjudged as "Best in Administration" under HQ Eastern Air Command. He was adjudged as the "Best Chief Administrative Officer" of the Eastern Air Command in 199495. For his professional ability and distinguished services as Administrative Officer par excellence, twice the Chief of the Air Staff has commended him, in 1980 and 1990.

Air Cmde Walia, with his in-depth knowledge and ingenuity ensured that service functions, particularly Colour Presentations/ Standards by Rashtrapati and Air Force Day cum Investiture Parade were conducted in a most befitting manner. He displayed all-round involvement in Air Force activities related to national functions like Independence Day, Republic Day and Vijay Diwas. His exceptional organisational abilities were exhibited when he handled inter services ceremonial commitments reflecting his tremendous capability to respond to very difficult situations with no room for error.

For his sustained hard work, unflinching devotion to duty, and distinguished service of very high order, the Hon'ble President is pleased to award 'Vishisht Seva Medal' to Air Commodore Arvind Jeet Singh Walia.

Air Vice Marshal Arvind Jeet Singh Walia, VSM (12155) Adm was commissioned on 27 December 1969 in the Administrative stream of the Indian Air Force. During his 34 years of service, he has distinguished himself in various appointments, which include Commanding Officer of a Radar Squadron, Chief Administrative Officer of three major Air Force Stations, JD Org (Cer) and D Org, performing a sensitive charter of duties. He is a graduate of the College of Defence Management. Presently, he is posted as Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Air Force Works) at Air HQ since April 2003.

A versatile, innovative and self motivated Administrative officer, Air Vice Marshal Walia has consistently exhibited a very high degree of professionalism and administrative acumen through out his career. During his tenure as Chief Administrative Officer at Tezpur and Guwahati, the stations were adjudged “Best in Administration". He was adjudged as “Best Chief Administrative Officer" of the Eastern Air Command in 1994-95. For his professional ability and distinguished services as Administrative Officer par excellence, he has been commended twice by the Chief of the Air Staff and awarded VSM in 2002.

With his exceptional organizational abilities, Air Vice Marshal conceptualized, planned and motivated the establishment of the 'Air Warriors Symphony Orchestra' which has added honours to the prestige of the Air Force by its highly acclaimed performance across the country and abroad. His appreciation of the complexities of works services is complete and has provided catalytic direction for cohesive coordination of related activities though out the Air Force, resulting not only in scheduled commencement of various infrastructural projects but also in optimum utilization of funds, placed at the disposal of the IAF. With his in depth knowledge, ingenuity and meticulous planning, he has ensured initiation of a vast variety of infrastructural works keeping pace with the induction of latest high technological systems for the modernization of the Air Force. This includes highly prestigious projects like the induction of AJTs, development of airfields at Phalodi and Deesa. His analytical approach and foresight has constantly spurred his team to successfully launch the largest ever Capital Works Plan of the IAF in 2003-04. This has resulted in providing a threshold and the much needed impetus to the ever-growing modernization needs of the Air Force.

Air Vice Marshal Arvind Jeet Singh Walia, VSM has thus rendered distinguished service of an exceptional order.
