Air Commodore Shankaryya Gurupadayya Allimati (11912) AE (L) is on the posted strength of Air HQ (Vayu Bhavan) from 26 Apr 1999 and has been functioning as Joint Director Signals (Air) under the Vice Chief of the Air Staff branch.

In his career of over 30 years he has held various important assignments connected with aircraft maintenance, missiles and communication at the field, Command and Air Headquarters level. With keen perception, insight and application, the officer has been effective and successful at both execution of projects and task at unit and command level and also in formulating futuristic macro level communication policies and infrastructure for strategic/tactical command and control.

During the present tenure at Air Headquarters, the officer has been one of the main team members and architect in planning/approval for following: a. Communicaiton needs of the IAF for next 15-20 years, inclusive of requirement for Integrated Air Command and Control System (IACCS) and revised Air Defence Ground Environment System plan. b. Planning and progressing the implementa-tion of DoT network upgrade. c. Formulating the Inter Services framework of Air Defence communication (JSSG 2000). d. Disaster Management Communication, during natural calamities for aid to civil power.

For a distinguished service of a high order, the Hon'ble President is pleased to award 'Vishisht Seva Medal' to Air Commodore Shankarayya Gurupadayya Allimati.
