Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh DFC - Click to EnlargeAn Army man by profession, an artist by heart, Col Arul Raj's portraits are well known around the country. He has over thirty years experience in painting mostly in India and also from the  United States.

His first break in painting came at the age of twenty seven, when he was personally commissioned by the President of   India, late Mr. Fakruddin Ali Ahmed to paint his portrait for the Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.

This commission launched  Col Arul Raj's career in portrait painting. This was followed by another commission three years later by late President N Sanjeeva Reddy, again for Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Ever since, Col Arul Raj had the special distinction of being the Indian Army's Official Portrait artist. He has done portraits of over ten different Army chiefs over 25 years. He had done various paintings of Gallantry Award winners, paintings of Indian Navy ships of yore and various aviation battles.

This painting is displayed in the Cadet's mess at Air Force Academy Dundigal.
