Miscellaneous Artists - Paintings

Presented here on this page are various Paintings by Miscellaneous Artists. These paintings show Indian Air Force aircraft or battle scenes and have been gathered from various sources. A good source of such paintings are the Squadron/Signal publications 'In Action' Series. These series of books depict various paintings by western artists on IAF and PAF battle scenarios. Prominent among them is the MiG-21 C-992 which graced the cover of "MiG-21 in Action". Also seen in the series include a Hawker Tempest in IAF  markings. The series publication on PAF aircraft also shows a MiG-19 in aircombat with a Sukhoi-7 as well as a F-104 Starfighter shooting down the Indian Navy Alize.

Derek Bunce did the cover for the 1982 publication "The Indian Air Force and its aircraft 1932-1982". The painting depicted a Jaguar IS attack on a Pakistani Army convoy in the POK Region. [Copyright: Dumus Books]	Another Model kit cover depics a MiG-21PF sparring it out with a Sabre over territory that looks like the Akhnur Chamb area.	Hawker Hunters attacking Pakistani M-47 tanks on the battlefield in this depiction of the 1965 Ops. The Original painting is in the Indian Air Force Museum at Palam.
This painting of Flt Lt B B Soni in MiG-21FL (C-750), shooting down a PAF F-104 Starfighter was commissioned by Vayu Aerospace Review. This beautiful painting depicts a MiG-21FL (C1487), from No.7 Battle Axes Squadron, firing a K-13 (AA-2 Atoll) air-to-air missile. This painting appeared as the inside covers of the book "No.7 Squadron, IAF - The Battle Axes" by Mr. Pushpindar Singh [Copyright: Pilot Press Ltd, Bromley, Leicester, Kent, United Kingdom]	This painting appeared on the cover of Squadron/Signal Publication's 'MiG-21 Fishbed in Action'. The scene depicted is inaccurate as C-992 was actually based at Uttarlai in the 1971 Indo-Pak War and did not see air combat with the F-86 Sabre.   [Copyright: Squadron/Signal Publications]	A spectacular painting by Lou Drendel of an Indian AF MiG-21FL in 'Tiger Stripes' camouflage firing an infra-red guided K-13 missile. Fitted under the main fuselage is the GP-9 central gun. Lou has an excellent collection of paintings at his website - Aviation Art.
Another painting by Lou Drendel of the HAL Ajeet prototype (E-1083) [Copyright: Aviation Art.]	Though not explicitly painted as an Indian Air Force machine, this painting of a Hurricane in SEAC Colors is representative of the Hawker Hurricane that was flown by Indian Pilots on the Burma Front. The cover of the Japanese Publication depicts a dramatic scene of a Hunter after it had fatally damaged a MiG-19 in aircombat. Though the theme was good, no MiG-19 was ever claimed shot down by Hawker Hunters in the Indian Air Force	This black and a white painting appeared in a Japanese publication on the Hawker Hunter. The drawing shows a Hunter and a PAF Sabre sparring it out in Air Combat.
