MATRA LASER GUIDED BOMB

The Matra family of LGBs are quite distinctive, being visibly different from the U.S. Paveway series. The picture at left, is of a 400 kg. (882 lb.) LGB under the wing of a Mirage F1C from the French Air Force. Note the diagonal fins on the laser receiver nose.

These laser guided bombs have no propulsion system and their dimensions are similar to the U.S. Paveway. The typical effective range is up to 10 km (6.2 miles). A variety of warhead sizes such as the 250 kg. (551 lbs.), the 400 kg. (882 lbs.) and the 1000 kg. (2205 lbs.) can be used.
